Description:

Sierra is proud to announce the release on DVD of it's 1992 video,"Muleskinner- Live" and is now in stock. This Sierra DVD release is exclusive to Sierra and not available from any other retail or mail order company in the USA. The first super group of bluegrass music, "Muleskinner", as they were later to be called, made their first appearance ever on what was the first nationally televised program of bluegrass music. Taped before a live in-studio audience in Hollywood CA in February 1973, Clarence White, David Grisman, Richard Greene, Peter Rowan and Bill Keith reunited after years of individually playing rock and roll music in this ground breaking, once believed lost television program for the first time exclusively on this Sierra DVD. Originally released on Sierra VHS tape in 1992, this magical television performance represents the entire edited final tv broadcast from the original 2" analog color videotape transferred direct to digital. The results are spectacular! If you own the older VHS tape version, you will be amazed at the audio and video quality afford by this DVD, playable in ALL Regions. Inside is contained the original liner notes, rare photos and the reproduction of the original VHS cover graphics. This legendary group of would influenced a new generation of bluegrass musicians from Bela Fleck, Mark O'Connor, Marty Stuart, Ricky Skaggs to Alison Krause, Nickel Creek and the "O' Brother" generation. After making brief stage appearances a month later followed by one studio album and finally the untimely death of Clarence White in July 1973, Muleskinner never performed again as a group. This DVD as well as the companion original soundtrack Sierra compact disc is dedicated to Clarence White, who was a virtuoso human being and guitarist.

(Production Note) This is the exact same program that was original released on Sierra VHS in 1992, 30 minutes in length but in fair superior quality both in picture and sound. You be amazed to see the clarity as if it was video taped yesterday! As stated in the original notes to both the VHS release and the CD soundtrack of the program, the additional songs that appear on the CD only existed on an audio tape made of the program. The videotape of those performances were erased when the program was edited for broadcast back in 1973. Regrettably, the extra songs were never saved and thus did not appear on the VHS release or now on the DVD.)

Performances: NEW CAMPTOWN RACES / DARK HOLLOW / LAND OF THE NAVAJO / BLACKBERRY BLOSSOM / KNOCKIN' ON YOUR DOOR / OPUS 57 IN G MINOR / RED ROCKING CHAIR / THE DEAD MARCH / ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL
