Produced and directed by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band co-former, John McEuen and filmed live in a Salem, Missouri farmhouse, A Night In The Ozarks captures the reunion of the original Dillards as they rehearse for a show. The spirited live performances of their best known songs reveal an exciting inside view into the great Ozark mountain bluegrass music style that gave birth to that unique Dillards sound.

This 105 minute DVD documentary expanded by 20 minutes from the 1990s VHS release features not only the original lineup of The Dillards, Rodney and Douglas Dillard, Mitch Jayne and Dean Webb, but also a special appearance by Homer Dillard Sr., the family patriarch whose incredible musicianship and energy interact with the boys to bring about a memorable performance. Recorded live by Academy Award-winning sound engineer Mike Denecke, this documentary is a joyful celebration, featuring amazing harmonies, awesome playing and mountain humor, as The Dillards share beloved down-home stories of The Ozarks.

The Dillards first hit the west coast in 1962 when they were discovered by noted record producer, Jim Dickson (Byrds, Glen Campbell, Hamilton Camp, Flying Burrito Bros, Lord Buckley, Lenny Bruce, David Meltzer, Page Cavanaugh Trio, Gene Clark, Country Gazette, Gram Parsons, etc.), and within a year they had recorded their landmark first album, the first of several albums for Elektra Records, Back Porch Bluegrass, inspired many pickers such as Steve Martin, John McEuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) and Bernie Leadon (The Eagles), and had been cast as the Darlin Family on The Andy Griffith Show, which lead to appearances on other network television shows.

In "A Night In The Ozarks" the audience experiences a joyful celebration of the group's musical roots. The songs and the stories, as well as the love and energy of The Dillards' music, are captured here in what we call an Audiolithograph: a timeless cherished picture with sound, which preserves the magic of The Dillards for the world to enjoy. Now in the 46th year of their incredible career, their wonderful musical legacy and classic bluegrass songs (covered by so many bluegrass artists) have brought their Ozark Mountain Bluegrass Music to the general public.
